Tarique Rahman promises: BNP
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman promised on Sunday that those involved in torture and killings during the anti-dictatorship movement and the possible 2024 mass uprising will be tried if BNP comes to power. “If the people of Bangladesh give BNP a chance to rule in the future, we can firmly say that we will ensure justice for all killings and atrocities,” he said while virtually joining an iftar gathering at a hotel in the capital on Sunday (March 16).
He assured that the party will make every effort to ensure justice for those killed and tortured during the anti-dictatorship movement and the mass uprising, in addition to various political programs. The event, ‘We are BNP Paribas’, is organized for the families of the victims of disappearances and killings during the ‘fascist’ Awami League government and the martyrs of the mass uprising. Eid gifts were also distributed among the affected families at the event.

The BNP acting chairman said that both the party and the nation expect a fair and impartial election in the future, through which the people of Bangladesh will decide who will form the government.
He said that no matter which party comes to power, there must be a program along with various activities to ensure justice for all victims of torture and injustice.
He warned, “Justice must be conducted fairly at all costs. If past injustices cannot be judged, and if fair and proper trials are not held for these incidents, injustices may be repeated in the country again.”
Tareq Rahman urged the victimized families to live up to their expectations without losing hope. He added, “If we all remain united and vocal against injustice, then we will definitely be able to hold these trials in this country.”
